My wife encouraged me to begin writing about what is happening in my life, and I've wanted to for a while, so here I go...
Today was a good day. I love good days like this. It was sunny and warm enough to spend the majority of it outside, soaking it up. Susan and I took our three dogs up to Lee Summit for a morning hike. The pass was partially covered with snow, but the gated logging road that we chose to hike on was wide and open. We were surrounded by giant fir and cedar trees, and we enjoyed a beautiful, three-quarter hour long hike in the early morning sun.
A drive back to Quincy for our breakfast seemed a nice reward for our efforts. It was fabulous. My occasional coffee was their French roast, and we shared a giant, veggie omelet. Talk about perfect.
Then it was back home for a quick prep of my commuter bike, an old cyclocross bike, that I would be using for a weekend group ride around town with the local club. At 11 o'clock we took off, eight local cyclists from the Plumas-Sierra Cycling Club and myself. Today's ride would loop around town and climb up LaPorte Road for a few miles, before returning to town. This was my first ride with them and I have to say that they were very welcoming and nice to this out-of-towner. We rode together for about two hours under blue skies and I must say that it sure felt like spring was here.
After I got home I did my weekend chores: washing the car, putting away our camping gear from last week's trip and tuning up my bike (it has really needed it). Susan and I did our weekend grocery shopping, took the dogs for a walk in the park, and then settled in for dinner and some TV. All-in-all it was an easy day.
So there you have it. Pretty boring, I know, but it doesn't take much to make me feel good these days. I hope that this blog will give me an opportunity to share some good stories and pictures and maybe even dispense some valuable information for others who have similar interests.
I hope to talk about my passions of fishing, cycling, running, or just about anything else, like good beer or maybe who is serving up the best burgers in town...
Cheers!
